I was planning on getting a custom acrylic set but somebody i know told me acrylic drum sets sound bad...but he kinda has bad taste so i dont know.
What sounds better? what are the differences?What souds better? A wood drum set or acrylic?
It's not that one sounds better or worse; they sound different. Wood drums are warmer and richer, acrylic drums are rounder and have more attack but can sound plastic-y. Acrylic done right can sound amazing though. I encourage you to check out this custom acrylic kit posted in a forum. It's one of the best acrylics I've heard. Scroll down to about halfway and you'll find an MP3 attachment sound file with the set recorded.
