What are the insulating properties of wool and acrylic?

Wool is a good insulator. It is especially good when knit in a space taking pattern such as cable knits, since air spaces are good insulators. It absorbs water(sweat) and is good insulating even wet. Underwear for persons in very cold or wet areas are wool for that reason.

Acrylic is not as good because it does not absorb water. It can be knit in cables but does not seem to feel as warm.
