CHECK WITH YOUR PHYSICIAN FOR THE ANSWER TO THIS SERIOUS QUESTIONI am a dental assistant who is pregnant and often do work in our lab.Is acrylic and monomer safe for the baby?
Hello,

The basic answer to your question is ';No';, the acrylic and monomer is not a harmful agent when properly handled. The acrylic powder poses no potential harm what so ever when in contact with bare skin. The monomer on the other hand could pose a minor risk as it could absorb into the tissue if mishandled, such as pouring the monomer liquid directly into your hand...There are greater risk for your unborn child when you take dental x-rays or mix silver amalgam filing material containing Mercury. When Acrylic powder and the liquid Monomer are properly mixed in the mixing jar and not handled until the material is properly set, kneading the material prior to packing should pose no health risk to you or your baby.
