I'm a nail tech, and I have never heard of any salon charging $40 to remove nail enhancements. Yes, acetone will work just fine. Do NOT force tham off as some have suggested unless you want to ruin your natural nails. That is not the way to do it. And soaking them under hot water doesn't do a thing to help remove them. Soak them in pure acetone for about 30-40 minutes. How can i remove my acrylic nails at home without completely ruining my real ones...?
dip them in acetone (nail polish remover - has to say acetone in the label)... it takes a while but they'll be off. Warm the acetone a little bit before dipping your nails in it. Make sure it is warm NOT HOT!!!

soak the nails in the acetone, and with your fingers rub the nails, they'll turn kind of mushy, but they will begin to dissolve. After they're off, use a buffer to make the nail a bit smoother.
Acetone does work, it's much better than ripping them off. It will still be rough on your nails since your nails will be so think underneath. Use Nail Tek, it works GREAT to get the strength on your nails back. Here is a link, I'm sure you can find it at a nail salon near you.

been there, done that! it is impossible! your nails REALLY damage and they bleed when your taking them off! DONT USE ACETONE OR NAILPOLISH REMOVER! haha im serious. find a different nail place to get them taken off, its like $7 where i went.

which next time if i ever get accryllic im going to a professinal salon!
soak them in nail polish remover (thats what they do at the salon)

you can also try cutting with a nail clipper, or cutical cutter

or you can try to pop them off by sliding a credit card or a metro card underneath

good luck =]
ok, clip the nails down then get acetone on a cotton ball and press it on your nail then get foil and wrap it around the cotton ball on you nails. wait for at least 20 mins. then scrape them off.
Wait until they are ready to come off, soak them each day in hot water until they become loose enough to just pull off, if you just yank them off your nails will be ruined for a long time
Try another salon. It should cost AT THE MOST $10. It鈥檚 best to have them professionally removed. With a nail salon at every corner you should not have trouble locating one that will remove at a reasonable cost. However, if you must do it at home then yes acetone works.

1. You must have a non-porous bowl--glass. (Stainless steel usually will get too cold.) Do not use a wooden, plastic, or any other porous bowl. The bowl should be about the size of the bowl used for soaking when getting a manicure.

2. Immerse your finger tips in the acetone. The acetone should be about three fingers deep initially. As the acrylic begins to soften (approx. 10-12 mins.) wipe it with fiber free pads. It will slowly dissolve. The acetone will vaporize as well so add more as needed. Important: Be sure not to pull or lift the acrylic from your nails. (If you go to a salon, don't allow anyone to pull the acrylic off either)

3. Just keep soaking. It usually takes about 40 mins. You will damage your nails if you try to accelerate the process by pulling the acrylic off.

4. You must keep the acrylic immersed in the acetone until it DISSOLVES. It is a slow process and you must be patient if you don't want to unnecessarily damage your nails.

This is really a job for professionals. I must tell you that your nails will probably be soft and suffer some damage even if they are professionally removed. But if you follow these steps the damage will be minimized.

After removing use Nail Magic. Can only be purchased at Sally's. Cost about $8.
